Idaho's Collaborative Groups
Across Idaho, locally-driven collaborative groups are bringing together timber industry, community, and conservation interests to resolve long-standing conflicts over land use on public forests. Each of these forest collaborative groups is distinct, but all share certain qualities. They seek to balance the interests of forest ecology, local jobs, and long-term stewardship of the national forests. All are committed to respect each other’s interests in the search for practical solutions that can be implemented on the ground. These collaborative groups are finding a promising level of agreement on employing active forest management as a tool to achieve ecological goals and provide jobs in rural communities.
